Partners and Planning

Identifying and addressing housing needs requires teamwork. Idaho Housing is fortunate to have developed long-standing cooperative relationships among housing, community and economic development professionals. The network helps us identify common interests, forge productive alliances and create more effective strategies to make Idaho strong.

Regional Housing Roundtables
Idaho Housing hosts five regional Housing Roundtable meetings across Idaho in the spring and fall each year. Housing organizations, service providers, state agencies and associated industry organizations' representatives are invited to share news relating to housing needs, resources or activities, housing issues and housing policy development for Idaho. This allows housing stakeholders to identify challenges and opportunities, reduce duplication, celebrate successes and collaborate to make effective referrals and target limited resources. Attendance space is limited and we respectfully request that interested parties send any inquiries to krish@ihfa.org.

Idaho Community Review Team
The Idaho Community Review Team enlists professionals in areas such as housing, land-use planning, community and economic development and transportation. Upon invitation, these teams work with rural Idaho residents to manage change and support economic and community vitality. Idaho Housing brings knowledge of housing and inclusive planning to this team. No state or local tax dollars are used to conduct reviews; Visiting Team members (or their employers) cover travel and lodging costs, while private community partners provide food and meeting space.

Plans and Reports

Idaho Housing partners with state and local entities to better understand and address the housing needs of all Idahoans. Together, Idaho Housing and the Idaho Department of Commerce produce a Five-Year Strategic Plan for Housing and Community Development on behalf of the State of Idaho and its non-entitlement communities.  To learn more about the Five-Year Strategic Plan for Housing and Community Development, click here.

NW Community Development Institute
Idaho Housing’s Housing Resources Coordinator serves on the NW CDI faculty to help participants explore the role of housing in their community and economic development efforts.  The Institute is an annual, week-long training where community leaders “learn current strategies for sustaining strong communities, attend exciting classes from top community development instructors and develop networking relationships with other city leaders.”  Graduates may seek certification through the national Community Development Council. Click here to learn more.

Board, Committee and Task Force Participation

Idaho Housing is represented on numerous statewide groups working to create a stronger and more prosperous Idaho. These networks include:

  • Idaho Rural Partnership (IRP) Board – IRP joins diverse public and private resources in innovative collaborations to strengthen communities and improve life in rural Idaho
  • Statewide Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) – Housing stability is greatly influenced by transportation and energy costs. Idaho Housing is one of many partners at the table as stakeholders work to reduce health care costs, improve public safety and expand transportation choice and economic vitality for all Idahoans.
  • Idaho Main Street Partners Committee - This locally driven, funded, organized and run program relies on direct, inclusive community participation in downtown preservation and revitalization and is one of the country’s most effective economic development tools. Nationally, every dollar invested in local Main Street programs leverages approximately $18 in new investment.
  • Idaho Community Choices Advisory Committee – This committee evaluates proposals to further the state’s strategic goals of Mobility, Safety, and Economic Opportunity while maximizing the use of federal funds.
  • Ramp Up Idaho – Accessibility experts and community and economic development professionals explore the economic impact of accessible retail, commercial and housing infrastructure throughout Idaho. This supports our shared mandate to support housing choice and access to community resources and services.
