BOISE, Idaho – Idaho Housing and Finance Association and the Home Partnership Foundation are pleased to announce that the Avenues for Hope Housing Challenge has raised more than $240,000 to date from the community, with more donations coming in hourly, for participating Idaho nonprofits. Campaign funds will support shelters and housing service providers, working statewide to prevent homelessness and improve affordable housing options.
Community involvement in the campaign is up this year with more than 1,400 donations so far. The goal for the seventh annual Avenues for Hope Housing Challenge is to exceed $500,000, with the online fundraiser concluding at midnight December 31. Donations of $25 or more can be made at avenuesforhope.org.
To incentivize donations and provide increased support to Idaho’s housing service providers, at least $200,000 is being offered in the form of challenge prizes and matching funds. Idaho Housing and generous sponsors are matching donations with at least $.25 to every $1 donated. These funds will be awarded to the nonprofits in addition to the donations they receive from the community.
“We’re thrilled to see the generosity of donors- so far we’ve received $100,000 more than this time in 2016. Even so, the need is great during the colder winter months with more than 4,000 Idahoans experiencing homelessness last year,” said Gerald M. Hunter, President of Idaho Housing. “There’s still plenty of time to donate and we encourage Idahoans to come together in the spirit of the holidays and support these nonprofits who work tirelessly to restore the hope of individuals and families within our community.”
Donors can direct gifts to any of the 48 participating nonprofits, according to their location or types of services they provide. The more donations a nonprofit receives, the more matching funds and grant prizes it is eligible to win. If you don’t have a specific nonprofit to support, gifts can be made to the “Home Partnership Foundation” which will direct funds to help address critical, unmet housing needs. Real-time campaign progress can be viewed online at: avenuesforhope.org/#leaderboard.
The Home Partnership Foundation, along with Idaho Housing and 28 other businesses sponsoring the campaign, are contributing at least $200,000 to support the matching funds and challenge grant prizes. Nearly $100,000 has been awarded so far including:
