Kids across Idaho are showing off their creativity and being rewarded for it, thanks to the second annual “What Makes a House a Home” calendar contest. Wohnen und Finanzen in Idaho in partnership with the Home Partnership Foundation created the project for children who live in income-based housing or who participate in housing programs around the state. Idaho youths in elementary school, middle school and high school submitted illustrations and a description of what they think “Makes a House a Home.”
One child from each age group won a $1,000 IDeal scholarship for their illustrations while all other participants were entered into a random drawing for an iPad. This year 14 drawings are featured in the calendar.
This year’s IDeal scholarship winners are:
Grundstufe: Elizabeth, 10, Priest River
Mittelschule: Lorelei, 11, Twin Falls
Weiterführende Schule: Jonah, 15, Idaho Falls
Lorelei’s mother, Amy, says the program was about more than just a scholarship for her daughter. She told us we “have really encouraged her to make art and have made her very proud which is very cool to see. Thanks for having the contest.”
