BOISE— Charitable Assistance to Community’s Homeless (CATCH), Boise; Advocates Against Family Violence-Hope’s Door (AAFV), Caldwell; and The Jesse Tree of Idaho, Boise, received $1,000 each from the Home Partnership Foundation on Dec. 5.
The funds are part of the Avenues for Hope Housing Challenge, an online campaign launched by the Foundation last month. Over $25,000 in challenge grants are being awarded by the Home Partnership Foundation to encourage direct community investments that will support shelters and safe housing for Idaho’s homeless and most disadvantaged. These funds will help CATCH continue its mission to provide rapid re-housing for homeless families with children in the Treasure Valley; AAFV’s mission to provide housing to meet the low-income housing needs of our community, including those who are homeless due to domestic violence; and Jesse Tree’s mission to preventing homelessness through its Emergency Rent and Mercy Assistance program.
CATCH, AAFV and Jesse Tree received the $1,000 Early Bird challenge grants for being among the top five nonprofits statewide in the challenge with the highest number of donations by Nov. 30. The nonprofits will continue to collect donations for the challenge via www.avenuesforhope.org until Dec. 31, which means they are still eligible for additional challenge grants, ranging from $500 to $5,000. The KeyBank Foundation will also offer two leadership grants of $1,000 to the two nonprofits in Idaho with the highest number of donors making gifts of $100 or more.
“We are really grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Avenues for Hope Housing Challenge and for the Early Bird Challenge Grant,” said Crista Beck, manager of The Jesse Tree of Idaho. “The Foundation’s work in preventing homelessness is critical.”
“We are extremely grateful to those who have contributed. The funds raised through this campaign will go to help those in need as we place families into housing when there is no room available in the shelter,” said Kimberly Ivacek, AAFV executive director
“CATCH is thrilled to receive an Early Bird Challenge Grant from the Home Partnership Foundation,” said Christy Thomas, CATCH of Canyon County program coordinator. “Thank you to all the donors whose funds will help to rehouse homeless families with children across the Treasure Valley this winter. I am once again reminded how powerful and productive a community can be when we work together.”
The other two state nonprofits also receiving $1,000 Early Bird Challenge grants include CLUB Inc. in Idaho Falls and Family Services Alliance of Southeast Idaho in Pocatello.
The Foundation, which was created by Idaho Housing and Finance Association (IHFA) in 2005 to help people build a strong foundation for their lives through stable, safe and affordable housing, is coordinating the fundraising efforts at www.aveunesforhope.org. Participants (both donors and nonprofits) can track their positions online and compare their fundraising efforts to other organizations.
The Avenues for Hope Housing Challenge expects to raise over $50,000 –including donations and challenge grants– to help prevent homelessness in Idaho. Give today to service providers in your area by logging onto www.avenuesforhope.org. Together, we can freeze out homelessness and families off the street in our communities this winter.
