North Idaho nonprofits need your support this month as they raise money to provide critical housing and supportive services during the 14th annual Avenues for Hope Housing Challenge.
Donations made during the 23-day online fundraising campaign provide the resources that enable places like Bonner Homeless Transitions provide a program for women who are escaping domestic violence or homelessness. The Sandpoint nonprofit, which helps these women achieve self-sufficiency, has seen demand for their services more than double in the last year and a half.
“The money raised during Avenues for Hope will do more than just fund our program,” said Rebekah Little, executive director at Bonner Homeless Transitions. “It helps us provide the supplies these people need, since many of them arrive with just the clothes on their backs.”
Bonner Homeless Transitions is one of 22 nonprofits in North Idaho participating in this year’s campaign. The money they raise helps chronically and temporarily homeless, domestic violence survivors, veterans, people with disabilities, vulnerable youth, seniors, and low-income Idahoans. Over the past 13 years, Avenues for Hope has helped raise almost $16 million.
“The nonprofits participating in Avenues for Hope are a lifeline for thousands of Idaho’s most vulnerable every year,” said Gerald M. Hunter, president of Idaho Housing and Finance. “Thanks to their dedication and the generous support from our sponsors, we’re not just addressing their housing needs, we’re helping them create a brighter future.”
Donors can direct their tax-deductible gifts to one or more nonprofit organizations through Dec. 31 at avenuesforhope.org.
