Southwest Idaho nonprofits need your support this month as they raise money to provide critical housing and supportive services during the 14th annual Avenues for Hope Housing Challenge.

Donations made during the 23-day online fundraising campaign allow organizations like Corpus Commons in Boise to provide a warm, safe space for people experiencing homelessness.

“We’re kind of the central hub for everyone who spends the night at an area shelter, is unhoused, or is financially unstable,” said Jessica Abbott, executive director at Corpus Commons. “With growing demand, our budget has gone from miniscule to something far more substantial and Avenues for Hope is what helps keep the doors open.”

Corpus Commons is one of 50 nonprofits in Southwest Idaho participating in Avenues for Hope. The money raised helps chronically and temporarily homeless, domestic violence survivors, veterans, people with disabilities, vulnerable youth, seniors, and low-income Idahoans. Over the past 13 years, Avenues for Hope has helped raise almost $16 million.

“The nonprofits participating in Avenues for Hope are a lifeline for thousands of Idaho’s most vulnerable every year,” said Gerald M. Hunter, president of Idaho Housing and Finance. “Thanks to their dedication and the generous support from our sponsors, we’re not just addressing their housing needs, we’re helping them create a brighter future.”

Donors can direct their tax-deductible gifts to one or more nonprofit organizations through Dec. 31 at avenuesforhope.org.
