Help With Homelessness
Assistance is available for Idahoans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Learn how to identify your nearest available Access Point and connect with a housing professional. Other available resources include:
- Emergency and Domestic Violence Shelters
- Access to meals and food banks
- Necessary services such as showers and laundry facilities

Idaho Housing’s rental experts can help you find and maintain affordable rental housing and navigate housing challenges.
- Gain access to financial management tools and learn to develop a budget and debt-reduction plan
- Learn how to apply for rental assistance
- Ask questions about your rights and responsibilities as a renter, and receive a referral for legal advice if needed
Housing Choice Vouchers
Housing Choice Vouchers help low-income renters find safe, stable, and affordable housing by creating housing options and reducing expenses.
- Idaho Housing administers vouchers for 34 of 44 Idaho counties
- Participants contribute about 30% of their income to rent/utilities
- The HCV program pays the difference directly to the landlord
Family Self-Sufficiency Program
Families who participate in the Housing Choice Voucher program are eligible for the Family Self-Sufficiency program, a voluntary program that helps families achieve their goals and become economically independent.
- Work with a specialist to identify and reach your goals through employment, education, job training, money management, and more
