Fair Housing
More in this section
Idaho has made great progress in addressing discrimination in housing through a combination of education and enforcement tools. Idaho Housing is proud to participate with fair housing stakeholders to promote productive cooperation and collaboration. Below you’ll find useful information about fair housing law, ongoing and new initiatives in Idaho, and how fair housing choice supports community stability and economic opportunity for all Idahoans.
Although Idaho Housing has long partnered with others to promote awareness of fair housing rights and responsibilities, our efforts received a boost in early 2020. We received a Fair Housing Initiatives Program-Education and Outreach (FHIP-EOI) grant from HUD to support several initiatives in 2020 and 2021 Program Year. See the links below for resources and links to more information. *

Evaluating the Impacts of the Fair Housing Act
- The Unfulfilled Promise of the Fair Housing Act. On the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, this article explores whether we have achieved the two goals of the Act: “outlaw individual acts of housing discrimination and foster integration.”
- Reducing Segregation and Increasing Upward Mobility in American Cities. The Creating Moves to Opportunity pilot project uses Housing Choice Vouchers to evaluate long-term social, health and economic impacts on families with young children move from high- to low-poverty neighborhoods.
