Children on what makes a House a Home

Idaho Housing and Finance created a scholarship opportunity for children who live in income-based housing or who participate in housing programs around the state. Idaho youths in elementary school, middle school and high school submitted illustrations and a description of “What Makes a House a Home.”

One winner in each age category received a $1,000 Ideal scholarship. This year’s winners are:

Elementary: Moises C., 10, of Idaho Falls. He says what makes a house a home is love and laughter. My home is where I feel safe.

Middle School: Isabelle N., 11, of Driggs. She says a house is technically just a building. But a home is about family and love.

High School: Fatima S., 14, of Twin Falls. She says something that makes a house a home is family and the ones in it because, “A house is made of brick, but home is made by the people who live there.”
