More affordable housing comes to Blaine County

Affordable housing is on the minds of many across Idaho as the state has seen property values soar over the past decade. The issue has been an especially hot topic in Blaine County, where climbing home values and soaring rents have forced working-class people and seniors on fixed budgets to leave the region in search of something they can afford.

A new apartment development in Hailey will add much-needed affordable rental homes. Blaine Manor consists of two buildings with 30 apartments each. One building caters to families while the other is for seniors. It sits on a former hospital site and is the work of several partners, including Idaho Housing and Finance, The Housing Company, ARCH Community Housing Trust, Blaine County and the City of Hailey. Last week, the senior building opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Take a look inside the new facility,  hear about the hard work that went into making this project a reality and learn what it means to those who now call it home.
